Division 4 News D04_TA1007 6/29/2010 Tuesday First week of Play, this Thursday 7/1/2010. Tables should be open for warm up a minimum of 30 minutes prior to match start time of 8:00PM. First two weeks of play, no handicap. Captain’s Manuals to be handed out the first night of play, If you are a visiting team, your manual will be at the first night of play location. Captain’s, please review the LoneStar Playing rules with your team members. New rules, see rule LR 14 and Rule LR 16. LR 14 MAKE UP GAMES No make-up games will be allowed other than the 3 exceptions to the rules as listed below. 1 First three (3) weeks of the season, (to allow new teams for the 3 week window to join the league and or form new teams). Must be completed within a reasonable time frame. 2 Pre scheduled matches, (to arrange games prior to the actual match date because of conflict in schedule due to personal or work related affairs). Pre schedule match must be completed prior to the actual match date. 3 Emergency, i.e. (accident on night of play), an illness of a player due to minor cold, flu, or other minor medical problems is not deemed an emergency. LR16 TEAMMATE COACHING When it’s a player’s turn at the table, a teammate (even the captain) may not advise the player in anyway if the player has not expressly asked for advice and or attract the attention of the player shooting by means of approaching or signaling. A teammate may coach a player only when asked to do so by the player. Similarly, a teammate (even the captain) cannot draw the player's attention to a foul. All fouls must be called by the player prior to asking for a coach. While coaching, a teammate cannot touch the playing surface of the table, balls or sticks or place any form of marker around the table. Only one teammate may coach a player for a given shot. A player may only ask for coaching for up to two shots in a game limited to approximately 3 minutes each. All coaching infractions are a foul, and the opponent is awarded ball-in-hand. If a player is playing a match, that player is not allowed to coach his/her teammate playing on the other table. Note that any member of that team (playing or spectating that evening) is allowed to coach. Also, a player cannot delay the start of his/her game because he/she is coaching a teammate playing on a different table. It is perfectly legal for players to talk to their teammates while the opponent is shooting. As soon as the opponent leaves the table and it is the player’s turn to shoot, all conversation with that player pertaining to the game must cease. It is not a foul to offer nonspecific encouragement to a player such as "good shot", or "take your time". However, comments such as "Don't shoot that" or "It's ball in hand" will influence the player’s next shot and are therefore considered coaching infractions. As a rule of thumb, you can encourage, but not influence a player. Note: Coaching is not allowed in tournament play, e.g. playoffs and nationals. Also, actual points are recorded for total team score, handicap determines rule, no players handicap will be less than a ball count of 20. Smooth Shooters
at Shamrock I’ll keep you posted as others teams arrive in to the schedule. Thanks 6/23/2010 Wednesday Our Thursday night season is getting ready to kick off again, we were scheduled to start on 6/24/2010 (This Thursday), however because of a previous commitment to another event, we have moved the date up for one week and will start play on 7/1/2010. I am working on the new schedule and will have those out early next week. I will also call the Captains to let them know who and where they will be playing their first match and also deliver the Team Players Manuals. I have received the majority of team sign-ups back, however for those of you that are forming new teams, I would like to have the sign ups back right away. See: http://www.donwright.net/teamsignup.aspx I will also be contacting the new players looking for teams to play on, so I will be calling some of you with some new player information. For you players that haven’t played in a while, and interested in playing this season, please call Don or Darrell at the office. Thanks
